Lipolifting – an alternative to implantation

Lipolifting is a procedure that is used to rejuvenate the face, lift and sculpt the arms, breasts and buttocks by transplanting excess adipose tissue from different parts of the body. In the facial area, it can be used as a correction of nasolabial folds, marionette wrinkles, “crow’s feet” around the eyes, lip augmentation, giving volume to the cheekbones and cheeks. Excess adipose tissue is taken from another part of the body and, after special treatment, is used to fill in pronounced unwanted wrinkles. An important condition is that the patient is not too thin to have enough adipose tissue to be transferred to the desired area.

The procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The duration is about 2-3 hours, depending on the amount of transplanted adipose tissue. It begins with the collection of adipose tissue, most often from the abdomen or thighs, through a small incision in a previously anesthetized donor site, and the required amount of adipose tissue is removed using a thin cannula. The adipose tissue is then cleaned and injected into the desired area using another cannula. The type of cannulas used is important, since the “survival” of the injected adipose tissue is largely important and, accordingly, how long the achieved volume will be maintained.

An alternative to implantation is the introduction of one’s own adipose tissue into the breast area. Female patients should have slender breasts without sagging. Then lipofilling is carried out after liposuction from other parts of the body, processing the fat with a special method and introducing it back into the chest. This is a suitable method for women with a moderate amount of subcutaneous fat, with a narrow chest, and who want natural results, and a small bust size. It is also used in the presence of a breast defect after a partial mastectomy, for breast cancer, removal of an adenoma, another type of injury or condition. After a total mastectomy, it usually takes 2-4 treatments to achieve sufficient volume.

Injections of adipose tissue in the arm area help reduce age-related changes – add volume and eliminate skin flabbiness, tighten wrinkles, and improve the appearance of the skin. Lipolifting can also be used to shape and enlarge the buttocks in the manner described.

The big advantage of the procedure is the use of one’s own adipose tissue and the avoidance of the risk of allergic reactions that may occur with the introduction of a foreign body. It can be applied repeatedly until the desired effect is achieved.

This method carries the risk of bleeding, swelling, infection, and temporary loss of sensation, which are very rare and minimized if the procedure is performed accurately.
