Male penile inflammation and pain symptoms are signs of infection, injury, or irritation.

When a guy’s genitals part of the body is inflamed, it becomes tender, sore, red, and sometimes swollen. It may also have burning and itching. Just about any part of the body can become infected.

In penile inflammation, either the head of the genital or the entire penis can be affected.

There are many causes for penis swelling, scratching, itching and other conditions.

These symptoms in fellows may include:

  • Thrush Penis Inflammation
    Men with a foreskin are more likely to get thrush penis inflammation because the warmth, heat and moisture underneath the foreskin encourages the fungus to grow from a yeast infection.
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)

    The bumps appear as one or several rows of small, flesh-colored, smooth, dome-topped bumps situated circumferentially around the corona or sulcus of the glans penis head, although it can be mistaken for warts. Most pearly penile papules do not have a serious cause, but some are infectious and may lead to more serious conditions.
  • Penile Fracture and Trauma Injury
    Traumatic penile injury factors include Penile fracture, penile amputation, penetrating penile injuries, penile soft tissue, and masturbation injuries.     Phimosis penis foreskin condition is caused by Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO) disease of uncircumcised men, where the foreskin cannot be pulled back on the penis to expose the head.
  • “Jock-Itch” (tinea cruris)
    The itchy rash in the groin, genital, and inner legs area generally occurs in men when a fungus grows in the moist, warm area. Good hygiene and keeping the area dry are a must. Some Treatments: OC Jock-itch Spray, Fluconazole Drug.
  • Foreskin cracking
    Could be a reaction to soap or any cleaning substances you’ve been using. If you wash your penis with soap, stop. This dries it up and causes cracking. Just wash with water. Rub on Vitamin E creams. When having sex use KY gel or another lubricant for the penis. Check with your doctor for further treatment and to see if you have other conditions that need attention.
  • Penis Cancer
    Every cancer has its own unique set of risk factors and penis cancer is no exception. While these risk factors make a man more likely to develop penile cancer it can also appear in someone with no risk factors at all
  • Small White Bumps On Penis
    They usually develop in the teens. They are common on the penis. People often worry that they are warts or an infection, and pick or squeeze them. Don’t try to pop the bumps, as it can lead to infection of the surrounding tissue. Check with your doctor to be sure.
  • Sores At Base Of Penis Below The Hair Line
    Can be Sebaceous gland cysts, Skin lesions, skin ulcers, or other condition. Most probably sebaceous gland cysts arise around the sites of hair follicles.

Penile inflammation or redness can also be due to irritation or allergic reactions caused by:

  • tight clothing that rubs against the penis
  • new, unwashed fabrics
  • chemicals in laundry detergent
  • the latex in condoms
  • chemicals in spermicides for birth control
  • masturbation without lubricant
  • vaginal dryness during sexual intercourse

Be sure to use water-based lubricant (Aqua Lube and Astroglide for relief from vaginal dryness)

There are now condoms made from thin polyurethane that may cause no irritation or allergic reaction. Be sure to check ingredients before purchasing spermicides.

Good hygiene and the use of condoms during sexual intercourse activity will prevent most cases. Bacterial genital infections are easily picked up during unprotected anal sex.

Do not let embarrassment prevent you from getting care. Remember that your healthcare provider treats penile infections and penis inflammations of all kinds daily. His or her job is to treat you, not to judge you.
