Skin after monkeypox

On the skin of a person who has had monkeypox, marks may remain.

According to him, it cannot be said that monkeypox can disfigure a person.

“Individual pockmarks can give small scars, but not necessarily. The probability of this is not so great. The consequences are not as strong as natural smallpox. As a rule, there are no other changes in the body – the person recovers completely”

In the spring of 2022, an outbreak of monkeypox began in Europe. To date, more than 550 cases have been registered in 30 countries around the world. This is quite small for such a period and indicates that the infection is transmitted weakly, experts say.

There are deaths: why the monkeypox virus is out of control

The process of infection with monkeypox occurs by airborne droplets through close contact with the carrier.

Most patients recover within 2-4 weeks. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and exhaustion.

The most unpleasant manifestation of the disease is a rash that can cover the entire body. It goes through several stages before turning into scabs, which fall off after a while.
Smallpox left noticeable scars on the human body, including on the face. In the 18th century, this led to the abuse of cosmetics in Europe: a thick layer of white and rouge made it possible to hide marks.
